Montessori Village Academy is non-profit corporation and is governed by a Board of Directors composed of expert educators, whose interests lie in the success of the student body, staff and the guiding principles of the school.

Jay W. Homan, Ed.S.

Assistant Superintendent

Jay W. Homan is the Assistant Superintendent for Morgan County Charter School System and has been for the past two years. With 25 years of experience as an educator, Jay started his career teaching the core subjects, including art, to middle and high school students. He also coached football and basketball during his nine years of serving the students as a classroom teacher.

After Mr. Homan transitioned into administration as a middle school Assistant Principal in Griffin, Georgia, he later served as a Principal at both middle school and high school levels for 11 years. During his time as a Principal, Mr. Homan was recognized by the Georgia State Superintendent and the State Board of Education for Excellence in School Improvement as he led two separate schools from “Needs Improvement” status by significantly improving student achievement and increasing graduation rates. His school was also recognized as a Title I School of Distinction and as the Breakthrough School of the Year by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals. This award identifies, recognizes, and showcases schools that are dramatically improving student achievement and is the highest honor a school can earn through the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals organization.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Homan lives in Madison, Georgia. Jay received his undergraduate studies at the University of Cincinnati and holds a master’s degree from Columbus State University. Mr. Homan also holds a specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University.

Dr. Letitia Lewis

Assistant Principal

Dr. Letitia Lewis has been an educator for 24 years. She began her career in education in Brooklyn, New York around 1994 and currently serves as an Assistant Principal in the Clayton County Public School System.

Letitia has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Language Arts from Hunter College of the City University of New York, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, from the University of Phoenix. Also, she has earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Education Leadership, from Capella University.

Her desire to lead as an administrator encouraged Dr. Letitia to share her expertise with school communities, and has led her to the honorary mentions below:

Shakeerah Brodie, Ed.S

Shakeerah Brodie is a veteran teacher with 19 years in education. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Mrs. Brodie is a graduate from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She also holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from National University in La Jolla, CA. In 2007, she relocated to Georgia where she subsequently obtained her specialist’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA.
Shakeerah currently serves as the Gifted Endorsement Program Manager for all of Clayton County Public Schools where she prepares educators to obtain their gifted credentials. She is also a Lead Gifted Resource Teacher and a Teacher Mentor. She hosts other leadership and sponsorship roles, including the one of the administrative leadership team at her elementary school. Shakeerah is also an intramural sports coach for her elementary school, as well as the Head Middle School Track Coach at Elite Scholars in Clayton County.
